BOYS US SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY FAQs

·         Will my son automatically be part of the Academy if he was part of the Pre-Academy or Academy the prior season?

As stated in the previous answer. All players will be constantly evaluated and once the season ends, players will be chosen to be part of the group the coaching staff feels is appropriate to their level of play, whether it is with the same group they were the previous season or not. All players are encouraged and motivated by the staff & the club structure to earn through their play any opportunity they desire.

How Many times a week does the Academy train?

The Academy program will hold training sessions 4-5 times a week.

What leagues and Tournaments will the Academy play next season?

The Academy program plays in the U.S Development Academy Southeast division. The season consists on a 10-month season with 28-32 league games and two national showcases for U17 & U19. One Regional and National Showcase for U14 & U15 and a FUTSAL showcase for U12 & U13 in which players will be playing against the top clubs/players in the country. All the showcase games provide maximum exposure with over 60+ scouts for games. During league games, US Soccer scouts attend and make assessments on team/players performance (normally two games per month)

Who will Academy teams play against next season?

As stated in the previous answer. Academy teams will be playing in the U.S Development Academy Southeast division. Below are some of the teams the Academy will play against during league play: Capital Area Rail hawks (NC), Carolina Rapids (NC), Chargers Soccer Club (Clearwater), Charlotte Soccer Academy, Concorde Fire (GA), Georgia United, Jacksonville United, IMG Academy (Bradenton), Kendall SC, North Carolina Fusion, Orlando City, Atlanta United, South Carolina Battery, Tampa Bay United, Weston FC, Plantation FC, Wellington and FC Florida. Only the U17 & U19 teams will travel out-of-state for league games.

How are players chosen to play in the weekend?

Players are evaluated weekly, during training sessions and game performance. Depending on performances, commitment and overall competition between players, the staff will assign the players that showed best during the past week(s) to play that weekend. We believe playing time is extremely important for a player’s development, especially in the younger age groups, therefore we will always work hard to find a game for all players but if a player is not showing the level of play and/or commitment that the club requires, players will not be assigned to play.

What are the fees for the Academy program?

The club administration is finalizing the club fee for next season. Here is a link to last season's fee to use as a reference point. https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=283515

What types of off field development will my son receive by being part of the program?

We are always striving to become the best club to offer football development. One of the programs we have implemented has been our player evaluation program. Each player will receive evaluations both in their development through the season while also be evaluated in certain games during the season to receive a game performance evaluation. The club has also implemented a Video Analysis Program where games will be filmed and players can receive Video Analysis of team and individual performances.

Will my son be able to play in his high school, middle school team, if he is part of the program?
